What it does
- Drag the frame, or type its position and size in pixels when the result has to be exact.
- Lock 1:1, 4:3, 3:4, 16:9 or 9:16 and the frame keeps that ratio while you resize it.
- Zoom in to place the edges precisely. Your original file is never changed; you download a new one.
How to use it
- Add a picture: drag it in, choose a file or paste it.
- Move and resize the frame, or pick a ratio and type pixels.
- Choose the file format and download the cropped picture.
Common uses
- A square profile picture cut from a landscape photo.
- A 16:9 thumbnail taken from a screenshot.
- Trimming the edges of a scan or a product photo before sharing it.
Formats
- Input: still JPG, PNG and WebP. Phone photos are turned upright using their rotation tag.
- Output: PNG, JPG or WebP. PNG and WebP keep transparency; JPG fills it with white.
Limits
- One picture at a time.
- Up to 50 MB; about 40 megapixels on a computer and 16 megapixels on a phone.
- The crop is a rectangle. It cannot cut out a shape such as a circle.
- Animated pictures (GIF, animated PNG or WebP) are not accepted.

Questions
Is my picture uploaded?
No. Cropping happens in your browser on your own device. The picture is not sent to PrivaPress.
Can I crop to an exact size in pixels?
Yes. Type the left and top position and the width and height. If a ratio is locked, changing the width also changes the height so the ratio stays the same.
Does cropping lower the quality?
The pixels inside the frame are copied as they are. PNG saves them exactly. JPG and WebP are encoded again, so use a higher quality setting if detail matters.
Why does my phone photo show the right way up?
Phones often store a photo sideways and add a rotation tag. The tool reads that tag, so you crop the picture as you see it in your gallery.
Which formats can I use?
You can open JPG, PNG and WebP and save as PNG, JPG or WebP. For other formats, convert the picture first with the Convert tool.
