Smart Image Optimizer — Smaller Files, No Settings
Not sure what to choose? Add your images and press Start. PrivaPress looks at each image, picks a sensible format and removes metadata, and keeps your original pixels when a re-encode would not be smaller.
Your image files never leave your device.
or drag and drop images here
Supports: JPG · PNG · WebP · AVIF · HEIC (beta) · GIF · BMP
Up to 100 images at once.
You can also paste an image (Ctrl+V or ⌘V).
Settings
Picks the best format for each image and removes metadata.
Target size (optional)
Good to know
- Each image gets its own format: photos stay JPG, flat graphics and screenshots usually become WebP.
- If a re-encode would not make a JPG, PNG or WebP smaller, the original pixels are kept (metadata removed) and the file is marked. Exception: a photo with a rotation tag must be re-encoded to stay upright, so it can come out larger.
- Location and camera data are removed from every file. A file is never returned with that data still inside, even if it has to be re-encoded.
How to use Smart Optimize
- Add your images: drag them in, choose files, or paste from the clipboard. Up to 100 at a time.
- Press Start. There are no settings: PrivaPress looks at each image and decides.
- Read the result list. It shows every file’s size before and after and marks the files whose original pixels were kept.
- Download one file, a selection, or everything as a ZIP. Your originals are never changed.
What it decides for you
- Photos stay JPG. Flat graphics and screenshots usually become WebP, which is often much smaller for that kind of picture.
- If a new encode would not make a JPG, PNG or WebP smaller, the original pixels are kept (metadata removed) and the file is marked.
- Location and camera data are removed from every file. A file is never returned with that data still inside, even if it has to be re-encoded.
- You can add JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF and BMP. HEIC (iPhone photos) is in beta and only opens in browsers that can decode it.
Example
A folder holds three phone photos and one screenshot of a spreadsheet. Add all four and press Start. The photos stay JPG, the screenshot is usually saved as WebP, and any file that could not be made smaller comes back with its pixels unchanged and is marked, so you can see which ones were really re-encoded.
Limits
- It optimizes; it does not aim at a number. For a file under 100KB or another exact size, use Target File Size.
- The format is chosen per image, so one batch can come back in mixed formats. If a site accepts only JPG or PNG, use Compress (which keeps each format) or Convert instead.
- WebP is supported by current browsers and most websites, but some older forms and tools still refuse it.
- A photo with a rotation tag is re-encoded to stay upright and can come out larger.

Optimizing runs on your device. Your browser loads the page and the image engine from this site and works on your images locally; they are not uploaded. Reloading the page removes the images you added.
