Blur or Pixelate Parts of an Image Online, Free and Private
Mark the parts of a picture you want to hide, choose mosaic or blur and a strength, and download a copy in which those areas are really changed.
Your image files never leave your device.
Drag a picture here, paste it, or choose a file.
JPG · PNG · WebP
What it does
- Drag over any part of the picture to mark an area. Add as many areas as you need and move or resize each one.
- Choose a mosaic of square blocks or a smooth blur for each area, and set how strong it is.
- The pixels of the area are replaced in the saved file. Undo and redo every step, and your original file is never changed.
How to use it
- Add a picture: drag it in, choose a file or paste it.
- Drag on the picture to mark each area, then choose mosaic or blur and the strength.
- Check the preview, choose the file format and download the picture.
Common uses
- A face or a name tag in a photo that you want to share.
- An account number, address or plate in a screenshot.
- A private line of text in a chat or document image.
Formats
- Input: still JPG, PNG and WebP. Phone photos are turned upright using their rotation tag.
- Output: PNG, JPG or WebP. PNG and WebP keep transparency; JPG fills it with white.
Limits
- You mark the areas yourself. The tool does not look for faces or text on its own.
- A light setting can leave a face or text partly readable. Use a high strength for anything private and check the saved picture.
- The strength is relative to the size of each area, so draw an area only around what you want to hide.
- Up to 50 MB; about 40 megapixels on a computer and 16 megapixels on a phone.
Your picture stays on your device
The picture is processed in your browser, on your own device, and is not uploaded to PrivaPress. Reloading the page removes the picture and your edits.
Questions
Is my picture uploaded?
No. It stays in your browser, on your own device.
Are the hidden parts really gone from the file?
Yes. The pixels of each marked area are replaced by a coarse version of themselves in the picture you download. Nothing is laid on top that could be lifted off. Use a high strength so that the result cannot be read.
What is the difference between mosaic and blur?
Mosaic turns an area into visible square blocks. Blur blends the same blocks smoothly into each other. Both remove the fine detail.
Does it find faces automatically?
No. You choose each area yourself, which also means nothing is sent anywhere to be analysed.
Can I undo a mistake?
Yes. Undo and redo go through every step: adding, moving, resizing, changing the effect and deleting. After you download, the original file on your device is untouched.
