Good to know
- 100KB means 100,000 bytes, which also fits platforms that count 100 KiB.
- JPG and WebP can usually reach the target by lowering quality. PNG can only get there by shrinking the picture.
- If an image cannot reach the target, you see which one and why, and what you can try next.
How to compress an image to 100KB
- Add your images: drag them in, choose files, or paste from the clipboard. Up to 100 at a time.
- The page opens with 100KB selected. Keep it, pick 50KB, 200KB, 256KB, 500KB, 1MB or 2MB, or type your own size.
- Press Start. The result list shows every file’s size before and after.
- Download one file, a selection, or everything as a ZIP.
Supported formats
- You can add JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF and BMP. HEIC (iPhone photos) is in beta and only opens in browsers that can decode it.
- JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF files keep their format. HEIC files are saved as JPG.
- Animated GIFs: only the first frame is processed.
Example
A form accepts photos up to 100KB, but the picture from your phone is much larger. Add the photo, leave 100KB selected and press Start. When the image allows it, the saved file is at or under 100,000 bytes, and the result list shows the size before and after.
Limits
- If an image cannot reach the target, you see its name and the reason. A result that was not measured is never shown as a pass.
- Quality is lowered only down to a floor. If the file is still too big, the picture is made smaller, but never below 240 pixels on its long edge.
- PNG has no quality setting, so it only reaches the target by shrinking the picture. A large, detailed PNG may not get down to 100KB.
- The smaller the target, the less detail is kept. Your original file is never changed.
